Our first hike of the year!
We're headed to Griffith Park, specifically the West Observatory Trail.
This hike is a little over 2 miles and considered to be a medium hike by most people. It's not flat by any means since it takes you up to the observatory itself, but we'll stop along the way to catch our breath and take in the amazing view.
The views from this trail are unmatched (assuming the weather cooperates). There are great views of the observatory, downtown LA, the Hollywood sign...and just nature. To be honest, you could spend the entire day on this hike. The important thing is to have a great time. So go at your own pace and enjoy the experience.
We'll meet at The Trails Cafe, where you can grab a drink and a bite to eat before heading up if you want.
Some things you might want to bring:
- sturdy shoes, like good running shoes or hiking boots (they will get dirty)
- sunscreen
- sunglasses
- phone/camera
- water
Parking: There's street parking along Fern Dell Dr. and a lot slightly to the north at Western Canyon Rd. that should be free -- but may be full.
