Cambrey is the founding editor of the much buzzed about "Detroit Girls About Town,"​ an ahead of its time site which produced Detroit-focused music and lifestyle content while chronicling life in a city amidst a comeback.

She a recipient of an Anne O'Hare McCormick “Joan O'Sullivan” Scholarship Award from The Newswomen's Club of New York, an honor awarded to select incoming students of the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.

Other honors include a Gates Millennium Scholarship Award from the Bill Gates Foundation, a Regional Writing Emmy from The National Student Television Awards for Excellence by the Foundation of the National Television Academy, and her being named a Fulbright Fellowship Alternate to Slovenia by the U.S. Department of State.
