8:15 p.m. Reception and private viewing of the exhibition Imagining the Past in France, 1250-1500
Imagining the Past in France, 1250-1500 features rare manuscripts from the collections of more than twentyfive of the world’s most famous museums and libraries. The books are supplemented with ivories, tapestries, and metalwork that demonstrate how historical tales of the Middle Ages leapt from the illuminated page into other artistic forms within French culture.
About the President and Moderator
Lee C. Bollinger ’71LAW is the President of Columbia University. A leading First Amendment scholar, he is widely published on freedom of speech and the press. His most recent book, Uninhibited, Robust, and Wide-Open: A Free Press for a New Century (Oxford University Press), provides a probing analysis of what freedom of the press means for quality journalism in our challenging and rapidly changing media environment. He currently serves on the faculty of Columbia Law School. He is also a director of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and the Washington Post Company.
Sree Sreenivasan ’93JRN is a professor of digital journalism, technology expert, and dean of student affairs at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.
