The world around us has changed in easily discernable as well as strangely complicated and unclear ways, adding new dimensions to old fears and new fears to old situations.
The new millennium offers us a rapidly changing environment full of wonderful new conveniences that bring with them a whole host of challenging and often avoidable perils. New products, changes in food ingredients, modern safety regulations, dealing with new technologies, routine exposure to hazards and toxins, and educational toys that inhibit development are just a few of the topics which are likely to be covered by this panel.

Jennifer Taggart
Jennifer Taggart is the author of Smart Mama’s Green Guide: Simple Steps to Reduce Your Child’s Toxic Chemical Exposure a book which covers eliminating or reducing the hidden dangers of toxic chemicals that lurk everywhere, empowering readers to control what comes into their homes and make informed decisions.
Aside from her work as an environmental health advocate, Taggart researched this book as a result of two miscarriages which led her to search for environmental causes. In trying to raise kids in a non-toxic environment, with a somewhat doubting husband, she focused on simple, practical steps to reduce or eliminate toxic chemical exposures in the home.
Taggart is an environmental attorney in private practice specializing in consumer product labeling laws and compliance with Proposition 65, California’s law requiring notice before exposing the public to certain chemicals. Prior to practicing law, she worked as a CEIP Intern for the East Bay Municipal Utility District, focusing on compliance with AB 2588, the Air Toxics “Hot Spots” Information and Assessment Act and as an environmental engineer for Rockwell International, Rocketdyne Division. As an environmental engineer, I specialized in air quality and air toxic issues, including risk assessment, and Proposition 65, California’s toxic exposure and warning law.
A selection of authors' books will be available for sale at the event and the authors will be on hand immediately following to sign copies.
