Join The Columbia University Alumni Association of Southern California and spend an evening ogling the stars—the ones in the heavens, that is. On September 1st, join your fellow alums for a tour of the awe-inspiring Mt. Wilson Observatory. Docents will lead a tour of the facility, highlighting the many discoveries made with the Observatory’s cutting-edge instruments, and discussing past Mt. Wilson breakthroughs. See everything from the 150-foot solar tower to the interior dome of the 100-inch telescope, for three decades the largest telescope in the world, and the instrument with which Edward Hubble discovered that the universe is expanding in the aftermath of the Big Bang. After that, it’s time for a picnic supper in the park until sunset. Finally, after dark, view the heavens through the 60-inch telescope. Don’t wait to sign up!
