Anatomy of a Major Home Remodel

OC-MBA & Harvard Business School Club presents "Avoid a Walletectomy"

This event is not sponsored by CUAASC. This event notice is posted as an informational courtesy only.

Have you been thinking of remodeling or building an addition to your home? Before you start, get prepared! Learn from the hard-earned experience of others for the winning difference.

HBSAOC’s Lance Stuart is 18 months into an 8 to 10 month project to remodel his 5,000 sf home and add 2,600 square feet to it—Yet, completion is still months away and cost overruns are well into the six figures. Visit the construction site in prestigious guard-gated Ocean Ranch in Laguna Niguel. Learn and see first-hand the do’s and don't’s of a major home renovation and addition.

In addition to touring the site with the homeowner, you will learn all relevant perspectives:

His current general contractor,
A leading local real estate agent,
A board member of the homeowners association (HBSAOC’s Jon Howell), and
A real estate developer (HBSAOC’s Tom Dean).
These perspectives and strategies for success look to help you expertly: How to devise your strategy and plan; Methods for evaluating it, deciding what's worth doing and what pitfalls to avoid; How to pick an architect and general contractor and the rest of your team; Techniques for managing the project and maintaining control over budgets (including capital sources) and Most importantly, how to be prepared for the unexpected.

Enjoy a catered lunch and drinks at this Saturday event. If you're considering a remodel, this event could save you tens or even hundreds of thousands of dollars. If you're not, come to see a multi-million dollar home (hopefully) nearing completion. Where else could you get a 1,000 to 20,000 time return on your $10 to $15 investment?.
