Please join us for our annual dinner in honor of Simon David Kinberg, School of the Arts 2003 with special guest speaker Jamal Joseph, Associate Professor, School of the Arts, Graduate Film Division.

Simon Kinberg received his M.F.A. from Columbia's School of the Arts in 2003, and has already become one of the busiest screenwriters in Hollywood. His thesis project was a screenplay which ultimately became the 2005 hit film (in more ways than one) "Mr. & Mrs. Smith". His other writing credits thus far include "xXx: State of the Union" and the forthcoming "X-Men 3". He also helped craft the screenplays of "Elektra", "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle" and "Fantastic Four". Premiere Magazine named Simon one of Hollywood's "new power players" earlier this year.

Jamal Joseph is a writer, director, producer, poet, activist and educator who credits his time spent in the Black Panther Party and the nine years he spent in prison as the inspirational fires that forged his creative sword. He earned a degree from the University of Kansas, wrote five plays and two volumes of poetry while incarcerated. Two of these plays became award-winning productions. He also studied film at Third World Newsreel and is an alumnus of the prestigious Sundance Film Institute. Jamal has taught at Columbia for eight years and is an associate professor at the School of the Arts Graduate Film Division.

Reception with Cash Bar is at 6:00 p.m. and Dinner at 7:00 p.m. Program will follow dinner.
